Tennessee Government Executive Institute
The Tennessee Government Executive Institute (TGEI) exists to prepare state government leaders for public service and stewardship. The primary objectives of the program are to build partnerships among the departments of state government as well as to increase the leadership knowledge and skill of state leaders. We accomplish this by addressing several Lominger competencies chosen specifically for state government executives. TGEI offers the senior-level managers an opportunity to broaden their perspectives of executive responsibility through study, analysis and discussion.
Up to 65 state government leaders are selected annually to participate in this distinguished program through a competitive process. Each student has broad administrative, supervisory/managerial, and fiscal responsibility. During our two weeks together, participants learn about each other in ways that foster communication and collaboration among state agencies. Our networking events – both during and after the program – allow a camaraderie to develop between TGEI participants.
We have led this program for approximately three decades. Our alumni are leaders who are ready to face new opportunities that arise from challenges. They make a difference in the lives of Tennesseans.
